the children's clothing system is broken

Buying new is easy, and so is throwing away. To the tune of more than 95 million tons of textile waste ending up in landfills every year.

Carousel was founded to generate new circular solutions for children’s clothing that are easy and fun.

people and planet over profit

Changing how we dress our kids requires a completely new business model. We're a social enterprise, so everything we do—all of our products and services we offer
—are in service of our mission of keeping children's clothing from the landfill. We're here to make change, not profit.

how it works

  • you clean out with a clear conscience

We rehome styles that we receive from you! As we work to build the clean out side of our business, we also thrift by the pound at Goodwill outlets, rescuing awesome styles with an uncertain fate.

  • we take a "zero waste" approach to sorting

We thoughtfully sort every item we receive to make sure it is used for the next highest purpose. This includes reselling through Carousel, donating to charities that provide directly to families in need and recycling for those items that have had their last playdate.

  • more styles rehomed, fewer trashed textiles

The majority of our inventory is curated into our signature clothing capsules. We also sell select styles at pop-ups in Brooklyn and are always working on developing more circular products and services.

the mom behind the mission

Hi! I'm Jessica, founder and only Carousel employee—for now!

I live in Brooklyn, New York with my husband and daughter.

When it comes to keeping kids' clothes out of the landfill, there's little I won't do.
