re-love hub faq
when can I make my drop-off?
During regular opening hours of the partner location in question.
how does drop off work?
It depends on the location.
Some locations, like Canopy, offer self-serve drop-off with a visible bin and QR code. In other cases you may need to ask store staff for assistance.
Scanning the QR code at drop-off is required. It registers your trade so that you are eligible for a Carousel order discount and offers from that partner.
what items can I include?
You can include baby and children's items up to size 8 of any season in the following categories:
- clothing
- princess and superhero costumes
- outerwear
- footwear
Items should be clean and in good condition, free of rips, stains or other major wear.
how many items can I drop off?
We're happy to accept as many items as you like! If you have more than two bags, you can request a local pickup here.
do you accept off-season items?
Yes! They just don't count towards the discount because of the costs we'll incur to store them or pass them along responsibly.
how do I get the Carousel discount?
You will receive a 15% discount if we accept 15+ articles of clothing to restyle into our signature mini capsules.
Items that count towards the discount minimum are:
- clean
- in good condition (no stains, rips or excessive wear)
- in season
- in broadly appealing styles
- made mostly or entirely of natural fibers
The discount will be emailed to eligible families within 1 - 2 weeks of the drop off.
what happens to items not accepted?
About 5% of traded in items have treatable stains. We are delighted to share that we are able to save most of these for reuse by adding non toxic stain remover, washing in cold water and hanging them to dry.
Items that are in good condition but aren't a match to our style profile will be donated to one of our local NYC charities that provide children's items to families in need.
Most outerwear and footwear will be donated or recycled based on condition, as we do not carry those categories at this time.
We recycle textiles that are in poor condition and unfit for reuse.
how is this different than donating to charity?
Great question!
Our mission is to reduce textile waste, and charitable donations are not the blanket solution to that problem. Many charities receive more donations than they can handle, including many items that are unfit for reuse or resale.
Our service is something to consider if at least one of the following applies:
- you support our mission to reduce textile waste
- some or all of your styles in good condition are from everyday brands with little to no resale value
- you want to go circular by trading in your items for a discount with us
- you don't have the time to make other arrangements
All of that said, if you have clean items in good condition that are currently being accepted by a charity you support, we are all for that!
Please note that we have learned about several organizations that appear to be charities, but are not. We encourage you to be mindful of this when making your decision.
